
Irregular French Verb Boire
The French verb boire has a very irregular present tense conjugation. It isn’t conjugated like any other French verb ending in RE. There aren’t any tricks to help you out, you just need to memorize this conjugation.
Present Tense Conjugation + Examples
| je bois | Je bois du café. I am drinking (some) coffee. |
| tu bois | Tu bois de l’eau? Are you drinking (some) water? |
| il boit | Qu’est-ce qu’il boit? What is he drinking? |
| elle boit | Elle boit de l’eau. She is drinking (some) water. |
| on boit | On boit beaucoup de thé. We drink a lot of tea. |
| nous buvons | Nous ne buvons pas de soda. We don’t drink (any) soda. |
| vous buvez | Vous buvez de la bière? Do you drink beer? |
| ils boivent | Ils boivent le vin blanc qui est dans le frigo. They are drinking the white wine that is in the fridge. |
| elles boivent | Elles boivent une tasse de café. They are drinking a cup of coffee. |
