French Verb Boire

Irregular French Verb Boire

The French verb boire has a very irregular present tense conjugation.  It isn’t conjugated like any other French verb ending in RE. There aren’t any tricks to help you out, you just need to memorize this conjugation.  

Present Tense Conjugation + Examples

je boisJe bois du café.
I am drinking (some) coffee.
tu boisTu bois de l’eau?
Are you drinking (some) water?
il boitQu’est-ce qu’il boit?
What is he drinking?
elle boitElle boit de l’eau.
She is drinking (some) water.
on boitOn boit beaucoup de thé.
We drink a lot of tea.
nous buvonsNous ne buvons pas de soda.
We don’t drink (any) soda.
vous buvezVous buvez de la bière?
Do you drink beer?
ils boiventIls boivent le vin blanc qui est dans le frigo.
They are drinking the white wine that is in the fridge.
elles boiventElles boivent une tasse de café.
They are drinking a cup of coffee.
