French Sentence Structure – Possessive Pronouns

French Sentence Structure - Possessive Pronouns

French Possessive Pronouns

French possessive pronouns are used to replace nouns so that you can indicate to whom or to what those nouns belong. Possessive pronouns (le mien, la tienne, les nôtres) replace a noun entirely. This is different from possessive adjectives (mon, ton, nos), which always appear before a noun, like “my book” (mon livre) or “our house” (notre maison).

The following sentence structure charts make it easy to compare how sentences in English and French differ grammatically.
