FAQ

How do I book a course?

  • Registration takes place on meetup.com.  Scroll to the end of the course description and click on the red button that says “attend”.  You will be directed to the payment page.  You do not need to have a PayPal account, and you can use any credit or debit card.  Once you have made your payment, you will not be redirected to meetup.com.  Do not pay again. I will receive notification of your registration, and your name will be added to the attendee list.  Use the following links to book your course:

Do I need to purchase course materials?

  • All course materials are included in the course tuition, and  have been written by the LLL team (Jennifer & François).  You do not need to purchase any additional materials.
  • Everything that is included is detailed in the course descriptions.  You will find these courses to be a great deal for your money!

How do I access course materials?

  • All course materials will be stored in a Google Classroom.  A link to join your Google Classroom will be emailed to you one week prior to our first Zoom meeting.  If you have an email preference that is different to the one that you use during the payment process, please send Jennifer an email:  french@lovelearninglanguages.com
  • Once you have accepted the invitation to your Google Classroom, you will be directed to the “stream” page.  This is where announcements are made, and it’s a place where you can communicate with other students in your class.
  • In your Google Classroom, you will need to click on “classwork” at the top of the page to view your assignments and to access all course materials.

How long will I have access to course materials?

  • You will have permanent access to all course materials so that you can always go back and review lessons and retake quizzes.

What if I miss a Zoom session (even if it’s the first one)?

  • Of course, it’s best for you if you can manage to attend our weekly sessions, but if you have to miss one or even several, that’s ok.  Try to stay on top of the weekly classwork, and you’ll be ready to pop in on Zoom when it fits your schedule.

Are the Zoom sessions mandatory, or can I complete the course on my own?

  • You definitely have the option of completing the course on your own.  All courses are designed for self-study. The Zoom sessions with Jennifer and the group are supplementary, meant to give you a chance to practice, be part of a group, make friends,  and ask clarifying questions.

What can I expect from our Zoom sessions?

  • 40 minute Zoom sessions happen once a week.  Jennifer will be present along with other members of your class.  In each week’s course materials you will have “practice cards”.  Have these cards available and  ready during Zoom sessions, because we will work through them together.  You do not need to print them out unless you want to.  Everyone will take turns with the cards.  Jennifer will point out important grammar tips and will help with pronunciation.  Our Zoom sessions are stress free and lots of fun!  You will enjoy meeting people from around the world in a relaxed environment.

What is the profile of students taking LLL courses?

  • LLL courses are designed for adults of all ages and all nationalities.  Speaking English is necessary as all or most of the grammar lessons are given in English.

How many people will be in my class?

  • The maximum class size is 15, though many times the classes are smaller.  Sometimes 15 people sign up, but some prefer to self-study and not attend the Zoom sessions from time to time for various reasons including scheduling, time zones, other responsibilities, illness, etc.

How much homework is typically involved?

  • All LLL courses include many resources to help you practice and master the material in each week’s lesson.  Watching the videos and/or listening to the audio lessons while taking notes on the lesson guides is the minimum.  By doing so, you will be able to participate in the Zoom lessons.  You can always go back to the rest of the work and complete it at a later time as a review.

Do you offer refunds for cancellations?

  • No refunds are allowed once you have received the coursework for the first week’s lesson in your Google Classroom.  You will receive the first week’s coursework no later than one week prior to your first Zoom session.
  • Due to the nature of the courses, we cannot, in any event, pro-rate classes or transfer unused class time to another course.
