Did you know? All French children have a “snack” after school at about 4:30 pm. It often consists of a pastry bought at the bakery, or a piece of toast, a loaf of bread with milk, a fruit or some nuts. In France the afternoon snack is often called “un quatre-heures”, it can also be called “le goûter”. The French classics for children’s snacks are: sweet bread covered with Nutella, small cakes with chocolate filling, such as “Prince”, pains au chocolat and other apple turnovers from the bakery, a slice of baguette with squares of chocolate, an apple or a clementine and a glass of water. These are just examples, what did your snack consist of as a child?
